Lori Bases
October 28, 1968 - May 11, 2000

Brutually murdered by an unknown person while in her apartment in Steamboat, Colorado. She had been stabbed more than 20 times and had wounds all over her body, including her throat, chest, back, arms and legs. An autopsy determined that she bled to death.

Lori's mother, Sheryl went to school with my sister and they have been friends since fourth grade. We all grew up together, had our children around the same time, had birthday parties for the kids so this has been and still is a very tragic thing in our lives. Lori was born on my birthday so that is going to be a tough day. My prayers are with Lori and her entire family. This candle will burn for eternity!

NEWS UPDATE MAY 5, 2006

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS — Thomas Lee Johnson, convicted in 2001 for the stabbing death of Steamboat Springs resident Lori Bases, was granted a new trial by the Colorado Court of Appeals on Thursday.

Johnson

The three judges agreed there was an error in the set of instructions given to jurors about self-defense. Jurors were incorrectly told that the defendant had the duty to retreat if he was not the initial aggressor in the attack that killed Bases.
